From the title, you must have read that this was about a proposal. Let me just say, that Proposals are probably the most fun type of job I photograph. With all of the planning that one person puts into 'popping the big question' (from planning the right place and time, making sure the right people are let in on the big secret, and so on and so on!), there is still a big level of spontaneity I love.
Ross and I connected through an old friend. We sent a few text messages back and forth about where he was planning to ask his girlfriend, Dallas. He wanted to do it this past Sunday, but was worried about the St. Paddy's day parade around City Hall. The timing worked because it was well after the parade was over, but I told him I would scope the area out and find an alternative if needed. Well, come Sunday afternoon, I show up to City Hall in Philadelphia and there's barely a person around. I staged just off to the side and got a text from Ross that they are on their way. With my ninja like stealthiness, I followed them up the main walkway and started to snap away. Now, I couldn't hear any of what Ross was saying to Dallas, but I certainly could tell her shock and her answer. As Ross dropped to his knee to pop the question, Dallas dropped almost at the same time. With a lot of "Are you Serious?!" and "Is this for real?!" comments, they hugged and kissed and then I heard the "YES!" - The entire time, I knew Ross nailed it and I was smiling behind my camera for the both of them.
After they had a few moments, I introduced myself to Dallas for the first time - this was a surprise after all, and we spent a few moments walking around City Hall and Broad st to get some classic Philadelphia engagement photos.
Congrats Dallas and Ross!!!
I met Dana 6 years ago in Jamaica. I was there to photograph Lindsay and Chad's wedding, Dana was there as Lindsay's maid of honor. I'm always honored to be part of every wedding, but especially so, when that Bride (or groom) tell me that there was no question I would be the one they want to photograph their wedding. So, fast forward a few years from Jamaica, and I received the email from Dana telling me, it was her turn and there is no one else she'd rather have there. During their wedding day, she even turned to me and said it was more like having a friend there, than just some random photographer. And that really meant a lot, because I try hard to build a good report and friendship with each of my couples; It always results in better pictures.
I met Dana and Will over a drink to talk about their wedding. My first impression of Will, is that he carries a ton of energy around him. I could see in Dana's smile that she really found the person she wants to be with.
Congrats to both of you!
I photographed Jen and Jim's wedding a little over 2 years ago. I'm always honored to be a couple's wedding-turn-family photographer. Jim contacted me a few months ago to set up Jen's maternity session. We planned for the to-be-mothers photos to be taken in Tyler State Park in Newtown, PA. A few rain dates and reschedules later, we met up on a gorgeous afternoon, with amazing lighting!
Katie and Chad were just recently married at The Barn on Bridge in Collegeville, PA. Having worked there before, I was really excited to be back! Katie and Chad's group of friends and family were so hospitable and so much fun to work with. As soon as I entered the room with the bridesmaid, I don't think there was more than 30 seconds without some kind of laughter. My second shooter, Crissy Everhart, told me the Chad and the guys were just as fun and easy to work with.
I'm really excited to share this preview!
